Gaming Monitors Cheshire
Choose a gaming monitor from our selection will help get the most out of your gaming time.
If you have spent a considerable amount of time or money on the ultimate gaming PC, you will want a suitable gaming display to match.
What to consider when purchasing a new gaming monitor:
Screen Size
Although, usually a good option, big isn’t always better! Consider the location of your new gaming monitor in your house when choosing its size. Will it be on a desk or the wall? Do you intend to use dual monitors?
A gaming PC monitor typically comes in sizes between 24" and 27". You can enjoy an immersive gaming experience at this size without feeling overpowered by a massive screen.
Refresh Rates
What is a refresh rate? To put it simply, it's the amount of times a screen image changes in a second. Smooth, fast-paced gaming requires a high refresh rate to avoid juddery and glitchy playback.
The refresh rate of a standard ‘office type’ monitor is usually 60Hz. While this usually works well for browsing the internet or low-cost PC gaming, it won't cut it if you want to experience games at their peak.
At least 120Hz refresh rate comes as standard on high-end gaming displays, and the top models can reach up to 240Hz. But keep in mind that these high refresh rate displays tend to come with a higher price!
It should be noted that you must confirm your computer's hardware can support a high refresh rate gaming monitor before purchasing one. For instance, you must match a high-performance GPU, with a monitor with an appropriate refresh rate.
Response Times
Response times are measured in milliseconds (ms) and references the time required for each individual pixel to change colour. A gaming monitor relies on quicker response time to offer a responsive and fluid experience.
If you want the quickest response time possible, search for gaming monitors with response times less than 1 ms. To get the best possible gaming experience, use a monitor with a 0.5ms response time.
If, however, your budget is a little tight, a monitor with a response time between 1ms and 4ms will still be able to provide a smooth, seamless gaming experience.
Screen Resolution
When it comes to gaming displays, most people will talk about screen resolution. The most popular resolutions for gaming monitors are 2160p UHD 4k, 1440p QHD 2k, and 1080p Full HD. But if you budget can afford it and you’re looking to be a little more future proof, gaming displays with 2880p 5k and 4320p 8k resolutions, are starting to hit the market.
The general rule is that the greater the screen resolution, the better the visual quality, so if you're not sure what to choose, go with that one. However, it is important that the hardware on your PC can support playing games at the resolution you've selected for the screen.
Snazzy Extras
Last but not least… consider the extra features you'd like your gaming monitor to have. These features range from lighting to more practical features like integrated speakers, USB hubs, curved screens and more.
